Having sulked for most of the summer, this week’s cheerful flower is now in full bloom.

I’ve got these calendula, or pot marigolds, all over the vegetable garden thanks to a packet of seed sown more than 20 years ago. There are single and double flowers in both yellow and orange. I just pull them out when they are in the way of the veg but leave the rest for their colour and for the pollinators.
They weren’t as prolific this year but are more than making up for it now.
