Cheering Up Mondays #323

This week’s flower to brighten up Monday is something that I’ve struggled to get established in my garden.

Sweetly scented Lily of the valley.

I love Lily of the valley (Convallaria majalis) not only for the scent but also those delicate bell-like flowers. I’ve finally got a piece from my mum’s garden growing in a pot. Isn’t it beautiful!

  1. For me this grows like a weed!
However, it is hugely sentimental as (in the 50’s) we had to wear a white flower for our Sunday School Anniversary. My dad would wrap a couple of stems in silver foil from his cigarette packet and pin them on my dress with a tiny gold safety pin.
The perfume always takes me back to those happy days.

    1. What a lovely story! I think this plant either loves you in which case it’s very vigorous or it hates you and refuses to grow.
