Cheering Up Mondays #485

One of the summer drought stars for this week’s cheerful flower.

Salvia microphylla ‘Maroon’.

This was an impulse purchase last year and I’m so glad I succumbed. It’s proved its worth in the dry summer and is giving some much-needed late summer colour. Let’s hope it gets through the winter if we get a cold one!

    1. I’m hopeless at cuttings – my dad used to do them and I did his seeds. Maybe I need to try again.

      1. Always worth a go, I find they take quite easily. I must do some this weekend. “So cool pale blue” is another favourite that I don’t want to lose, and a wet winter is probably more damaging than a cold dry one 🙂

  1. I’m hopeless at keeping salvias going. This one is a beauty though I’d say it was cerise and not maroon on my computer monitor. I bought three Amistad this year, but will they still be around next?
