Cheering Up Mondays #438

It may not look much but this week’s cheerful flower is somewhat of a triumph.

Zinnia ‘Envy’.

This zinnia is part of my Gardening Trials and was grown from seed given to me by Premier Seeds Direct. I had hoped to weave it through the borders as the colour is lovely. However, the slugs and snails had other ideas and this is one of a handful that have survived. Next year I will mount an armed guard over the seedlings.

  1. I have only tried to grow Zinnias once and the few that survived were quite weedy looking, such a shame because they are very beautiful. I did find however that an overhanging table stopped the S&S getting to any plants on top. Maybe they can’t climb upside down? Sadly the metal legs on my table have rusted away, so I need to look out for a new one.

    1. I keep meaning to look for a metal table to provide some slug protection for seedlings. I have seen someone using one that was then stood in saucers of water.
