An unexpected joy for this week’s piece of floral cheer.
This flowering currant suddenly appeared when some overlarge conifers were removed. I didn’t plant it and have no idea where it came from – something that had been lurking, biding its time, or a gift from under the fence or from birds?
However it ended up in our garden, it’s welcome. I just wish I knew which variety it is.

Aren’t they gorgeous at this time of year. I was given Ribes ‘White Icicle’ by friends after seeing it at Broughton Grange, Oxfordshire. It has spread across the fence and is looking fabulous. They are so easy to propagate too that i have several growing on to give to friends.
I keep meaning to get one of those – thanks for the reminder! I’m going to add it to my ‘to buy’ list now. Broughton Grange is a lovely garden. I went there years ago for a Cotswold Life feature.
