Some years ago I planted lots of crocuses in the lawn. They do look lovely and are real harbingers of spring. But if I were planting now I would not plant yellow ones. The birds peck them to bits and they seem to come earlier than the others, and this spoils the display slightly. I would now plant white and different coloured purple ones including striped ones.
I’ve heard that yellow are usually attacked by birds. I’ve got a mix under my old apple tree – so far the yellow seem to survive.
